2007 10th Anniversary Platinum Eagle Set

The 10th Anniversary Platinum Eagle Set was issued by the United States Mint in 2007 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the American Platinum Eagle coin series.The set first went on sale December 13, 2007.
Each set contains two one-half ounce Platinum Eagle Coins. One coin is struck with a traditional proof finish. It features frosted raised elements and mirrored backgrounds to produce a cameo effect. The second coin is struck with a special reverse proof finish. It features mirrored raised elements over a frosted background, the reverse of the regular proof finish.
Each set was contained in a hardwood box with mahogany finish and accompanied by a certified of authenticity. The maximum production for the set was limited to 30,000.
The sets first went on sale priced at $1,949.95. The price was later increased to $2,649.95 in response to the rising price of platinum. The price was adjusted a second time in November to $1,249.95 per set, after the price of platinum fell dramatically. The sets remained on sale until the end of 2008 and sold 19,583 units.
