2008 Mint Set

The 2008 United States Mint Set was released by the US Mint on July 30, 2008. The sets were priced at $22.95 and contain a total of 28 coins. Each set contains special uncirculated versions of all coins struck for circulation, including the cent, nickel, dime, quarters, half dollar, and dollar coins. This includes all five 2008 State Quarters and all four 2008 Presidential Dollars.

Each coin has a special satin finish. This finish has been used in government packaged Mint Sets since 2005. Coins are struck on special presses, using greater force than circulating coins.

The coins are sealed in two separate folders. The first folder contains the 14 coins minted at the Philadelphia Mint, and the second folder contains the 14 coins minted at the Denver Mint. Coins minted in Philadelphia carry the "P" mint mark and coins minted in Denver carry the "D" mint mark. The coins are enclosed in special lenses which allow the coins to rotate within the holders.

The following twenty eight coins are included in the 2008 US Mint Set:

  • 2008 P & D Lincoln Cent
  • 2008 P & D Jefferson Nickel
  • 2008 P & D Roosevelt Dime
  • 2008 P & D Oklahoma State Quarter
