2010 Gold Kangaroo
Gold Coin Information
The 2010 Gold Kangaroo is the latest release in the gold bullion coin series from the Perth Mint in Australia. Originally, the Gold Nugget series, the instantly recognizable kangaroo began to be depicted on the coins in 1989. A different reverse design is created for each year of issue.
For 2010, two kangaroos are depicted boxing in the outback in a uniquely Australian scene. For the 1 kilo size coin, a classic kangaroo design is featured by Dr. Stuart Devlin, AO CMG goldsmith and jeweler to Queen Elizabeth II. Reverse inscriptions include "Australian Kangaroo" (or "The Australian Nugget" on the 1 kilo coin), the date "2010", the purity ".9999 Gold" and the bullion weight. The reverse includes the mint mark "P" for the Perth Mint.
The obverse of each coin depicts Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions include "Elizabeth II", "Australia", and the legal tender face value of the coin.
The 2010 Gold Kangaroo is offered in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz sizes. A large 1 kilo size is also offered featuring an alternate design. Coins were released worldwide on September 1, 2009.
