2010 Silver Proof Set
Similar to prior years, the United States Mint will issue a special proof set which contains 90% silver coins. The 2010 United States Mint Silver Proof Set is expected to be released in August or September 2010. This follows the release of the regular 2010 Proof Set a few weeks earlier in July or August 2010.
The 2010 Silver Proof Set will contain a total of 18 different proof coins. The dime, five quarters, and half dollar will be struck in a composition of 90% silver. The remaining 11 coins will be struck in their standard compositions, the same as used in the standard proof set. The sets will be priced at $56.95, which represents a price increase of $4 from the previous year's set.
Highlights of the set include the inaugural releases for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The new series will present National Parks or Sites from across America in the order they were federally designated. Another highlight is the debut of the new Lincoln Cent design featuring the Union Shield. This design was chosen to symbolize Lincoln's preservation of the United States as a single and united country. Fittingly, the Presidential Dollar series will include the release of the coin honoring Abraham Lincoln as the 16th President.
The following coins are included in the 2010 Silver Proof Set:
- (1) 2010-S Proof Lincoln Cent
- (1) 2010-S Proof Jefferson Nickel
- (1) 2010-S Proof Roosevelt Dime (90% silver)
- (5) 2010-S Proof America the Beautiful Quarters (90% silver - Hot Springs, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Mount Hood)
- (1) 2010-S Proof Kennedy Half Dollar (90% silver)
- (1) 2010-S Proof Native American Dollar
- (5) 2010-S Proof Presidential Dollars (Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan, Lincoln)
The United States Mint will also issue a separate 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set. This set will contain only the five quarter dollars, struck in 90% silver with proof finish. This five coin set will be priced at $32.95.
