Arizona State Quarter

Coin Information
The Arizona State Quarter was released on June 2, 2008. This was the 48th coin in the State Quarter series, continuing the final year of the series. A launch ceremony was held on the State Capitol Senate Lawn.
The obverse of the coin was designed by William Cousins, based on the original Washington Quarter obverse designed by John Flanagan. It includes the inscriptions "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar." The mint mark is also included to the right of Washington. This design has been used for the obverse of every coin in the State Quarter series.
The reverse of the coin was designed by Joel Iskowitz and engraved by Joseph Menna. It features the Grand Canyon, one of the wonders of the world. The Saguaro cactus is seen in the foreground. Inscriptions include "E Pluribus Unum," "Arizona," "Grand Canyon State," and the dates 1912 and 2008.
The Philadelphia mint produced 244.6 million coins and the Denver mint produced 265 million. Proof and silver proof versions of the coin were produced at the San Francisco Mint.
