Coin Information:

Chickasaw Quarter

Coin Information

The 2011 Chickasaw Quarter will be the final release of the year for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. For the broader series, it will mark the tenth release, with each site released in the order federally designated.

Chickasaw National Recreation Area is located within the state of Oklahoma. The location will be depicted on the reverse design of a quarter, with a portrait of George Washington appearing on the obverse.

The final design chosen for the reverse features an image of Lincoln Bridge, which was dedicated in 1909 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. The bridge also represents the first constructed improvement within the national recreation area. Inscriptions surrounding the image indicate "Chickasaw", "Oklahoma", "E Pluribus Unum", and "2011". The reverse was designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Jim Licaretz.

The Chickasaw National Recreation Area Quarter is scheduled for release into circulation on November 14, 2011. The coin will actually be available in January 2011, through the United States Mint's annual coin sets.

The same design will also be used for one of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins, which will represent the image on 5 ounces of .999 fine silver.
