Olympic National Park Quarter
Coin Information
The Olympic National Park Quarter will be the third release of the year for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. It will also represent the eighth site to be featured since the start of the series in prior year.
Once again a reverse design featuring an image of the natural beauty of the site will be paired with an obverse portrait of George Washington. This similar arrangement has been used for the past two series of circulating commemorative quarters, providing some measure of continuity, amidst the continual change.
Olympic National Park was selected for the state of Washington. The reverse design depicts a Roosevelt Elk stepping into the Hoh River, with a view of the majestic Mount Olympus in the background. AIP Master Designer Susan Gamble provided the design, while US Mint Sculptor-Engraver Michael Gaudioso did the sculpting.
The release date for the Olympic Quarter will be June 13, 2011. The coins will be distributed for general circulation, as well as offered by the United States Mint in numismatic products packaged for collectors. Additionally, a five ounce silver duplicate version of the coin will be released under the separate America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin Program.
